changing stuff in BO does not work

greetings,

 

for several days i have been struggling with various issues. case history: 6 months ago i migrated my PS from an ancient version, now it is 1.6.8. a week before i was asked by the client to make some simple changes (new category+products) but i totally hit the dirt. some of the issues:

 

- cannot change friendly URL or parent category for some categories, when i look back after the save, the changes are back.

- although the subcategory is nested under a parent one and the parent one is assigned in the Top Horizontal Menu, the subcat is not displayed in the FO menu.

- cannot change profile in "employees" - e.g. after i change the default language, it says "successful update" however contrary; or after i try to change name of the admin, it is changed on the general "employees" screen but not in the individual profile.

- inconsistencies in languages (one admin has EN as default another SK and we see different products in BO catalog).

 

it might be caused by some old module reverting the changes (even a direct change in DB is reverted)?

 

what could have possibly went wrong? I will be grateful for any hint.

self-solved. some post-migration db problem. solution: manual db cleaning and template - force compilation + cache disabled. F
