HELP! Authentication failed. on front end

I just moved my setup over to a different host with the same domain name I ftp all the files to the new server imported the sql database and changed the settings for the database in the settings file. I can log into the backoffice just fine and everything shows up my customers orders etc... but when I try to login it gives me 1. Authentication failed.

I can sign up as a new customer and after that I can login with the new user info but not with any of my old customer logins.

 

I cleared all my cookies in my browsers, tried deleting all the cache that I could think of.....not sure if i missed any.

 

I also had to issue a new SSL certificate would that have anything to do with this problem?

 

I'm running ver 1.5.6.0
