Multiple reference numbers or SKU's based on different product attribues like color?

I want to set up a different reference number (I'm using it for my SKU) for different attributes. For example, I want a shirt to have one reference number/SKU if it is blue and another reference number/SKU if it is green.

Solved. Turns out it was just me. I had a bug that was preventing the referrence number in variations from displaying.
