banchijojo Posted December 29, 2013 Share Posted December 29, 2013 I upgraded from 1.3 to 1.5.5 and I have added two categories after the upgrade and they are in alphabetical order in the front office, BUT in the back office they were just added to the end of the alphabetical list. is there a way to make new categories sort alphabetical? Look at the image so you know exactly what I am talking about. My "categories block" is set to "sort by name" and in ascending order. And in the BO under Categories > Catalog > View...that is sorted by name. How do I get my two new categories to properly file themselves into my previous categories alphabetically? CartExpert.net Posted December 29, 2013 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Hi. You need to change some SQL queries, as on the product modification page they are displayed in the order they have been added. Regards.Robin.The CartExpert Team Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
banchijojo Posted December 30, 2013 Author Share Posted December 30, 2013 Appreciate the response but I would not even know were to begin. People like me use Prestashop because we are not developers and should not be anywhere near the database. Maybe the powers that be at Prestashop will see this - things are messy this way, EVERYTHING should sort alphabetical as a default, how do you keep track and find anything if it's not filed in a logical way. Prestahop RULES however this is dumb. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Stefand Posted December 30, 2013 Share Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Hi Banchijojo, I agree with that. One simple option to SORT ALPHABETICAL the Product filter in the backoffice. But the Prestashop community / team doesn't like the alphabetical function or has other things to do... http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCFV-11070 Edited December 30, 2013 by Stefand (see edit history) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Albux Posted March 16, 2015 Share Posted March 16, 2015 Hello, I don't know if you still need an answer to this old topic, but as I was struggling to find a solution on this forum here what i did on my 1.6.0.9: file: classes/Category.php line 507: '.($sql_sort == '' && $use_shop_restriction ? ', category_shop.`position` ASC' : '').' becomes: '.($sql_sort == '' && $use_shop_restriction ? ', cl.`name`, category_shop.`position` ASC' : '').' hope it helps!
