Can I crop and edit product images using code/module?

Hello,

 

I am trying to find out if it is possible to use some code or a module to change the look of my product images. 

 

The problem is I have over 30,000 images and it takes a long long time to get them finished. 

 

I basically want to remove the white background that is visible on both sides of the image and ad a nice looking frame around the image. 

 

If anybody knows whether it is possible to do this with some css or whatever i'd appreciate your advice.
