Hi all,

I've started using PrestaShop recently and cannot for the life of me figure out how to work out shipping for multiple items.

I have nailed down a process for single items (we run a car spares business so there are many items and around eight different carriers) but need a few options for multiple items based on weight.

I have the following weight ranges:

Options 1: 0-2

Options 2: 2-3

Options 3: 4-5

Options 4: 6-7

Options 5: 8-9

Options 6: 10-11

Options 7: 14-15

So, when I want an items to be under the Option 3 bracket, I can set the weight of that product weight to 4.5.

This process works fine. However, when I add two of that item, it doesn't supply me with Option 6 (10lbs weight) but no shipping options at all.

Does anyone have an idea of what I could do?

Kind regards

Hi - Thank you for responding.

We are using Prestashop version 1.5.4.1

Most of the products we sell, we can get into one package but we have 1 category (4 products) that are large and would need additional package charge if anything other than it was ordered.  We are migrating from OSCommerce Merchant to Prestashop and the way I did it in OSCommerce was set the max weight of a package to 14 under configuration.  Because basically if the weight of the products is over 14 lbs it probably means that 1 of the large products was ordered along with other products - needing an additional box charge.  It seemed to work for the most part in OSCommerce but I can't figure out how to do that in Prestashop.

I hope this makes some sense to you - it is kind of hard to explain.

Thank you

Shelli

Ok Shelli,

I get your requirement. This is the suggestion I'd like to make.

* You can set the weight of each of product in the product edit page like you did in Product_Shipping.jpg

* Then you can go to Shipping -> Weight Ranges. Click on Add New and add the weight ranges. For example 0-14lbs as one range and then 14-10000 as another one. https://www.diigo.com/item/image/4h50p/r4sc

* Then you can set price for each of the weight range : https://www.diigo.com/item/image/4h50p/tsmi

Hope this works for you

Hi - thank you for the suggestions, I'm still having problems though :(

  • Under Modules --> Modules --> Connect to FedEx:
    • General Settings: Do I select "All items in one box" or "Split one item per package"?
    • Categories & Product Settings:  Do I need to set both?  Or one or the other?  Or none?
    • We tried setting Product Settings:  Screenshot "FedEx_ProductSettings" - does it look right?
  • Under Shipping --> Carriers:
    • Please refer to "Shipping_Carriers1" and "Shipping_Carriers2" - does it look right?
  • Under Shipping --> Shipping:
    • Please refer to "Shipping" - does it look right?
  • Under Shipping --> Weight Ranges:
    • Please refer to "Shipping_WeightRanges" - does it look right?
  • Under Categories --> Products --> Shipping:
    • Please refer to "Product_Shipping" - does it look right?
    • Am I to enter something for "Additional Shipping Cost per quantity"?

I'm wondering if I am populating too many different parts and it just getting confused?

Thank you

Hi Shelli,

From the screenshot I think :

* Shipping_carriers1, 2, Shipping and Shipping_WeightRanges look correct.

* I am not sure about FedEx settings because I need to know how you ship (If you need more help I am available on skype and you can ping me).

* You only have to specify additional shipping cost per quanitity if there is additional cost to shipping the product apart from the regular shipping otherwise you don't have to specify.

To sumup this is how prestashop works for calculating shipping cost when the behaviour is "by total weight":

1. For each of your product specify the weight. Like Product A 5kg, Product B 25 Kg, Product C 35Kg. You don't have to specify additional shipping cost unless it is a special product and requires additional cost.

2. In your carrier, specify the weight range and zone. Like 0-15kg Cost $10. 15-30Kg Cost $20, 30 - 100k Cost 30$

3. Now if I add Product A(10kg) and Product B(20kg) in my cart. Now since I have specified the weight of products, the total weight of my cart would be 35kg . Prestashop would apply 30$ as shipping cost as that is the total weight of the cart.

I hope this helps. If need more understanding and would like to discuss on skype please feel free.

Thanks
