[email protected]
I've been trying for two days now to get tax working in Prestashop. I've updated to the latest 1.5.3.1 version, in hope that this will solve some of my issues. I'm finding, that despite having assigned a Tax Rule to products in my multi store PS setup, the tax never gets added to the Cart. Display tax in cart is turned on, and tax is always showing as $0.00. I've also made sure that I have assigned a Tax Rule to the relevant products, but they tax stays at 0!!! This is from using a fresh install of Prestashop 1.5.3.1, using the demo data that comes with the installation. I can't get this working, and we're becoming quite anxious to get taxation working for our US clients, as they are in need of these features to run their online business legally. [email protected]
That's very unfortunate, I suppose you had a backup though. It seems that the tax is supposed to work the way it does, as for example with US sales tax, the correct tax can only be determined when the destination of the package is known. Vendors might need to charge tax for a different county within their state, and this wouldn't be possible without an address. I think Prestashop needs a bit more documentation on tax, and also a clearer implementation for tax. It would have been more user friendly if they made an indication in the tax field that an address is needed, or that tax is dependent on your delivery adress. Also, for some countries that charge VAT, they typically show prices inclusive of VAT, here in South Africa, we charge 14% VAT and the price is always included from the start, and the calculation does not depend on any delivery address. AlexDelierre
The problem is that taxes are calculated regarding the area where's the customer. But since a guest customer doesn't put his adress, there's no taxes, give me few days i'll try to fix it out !
