Impossible to change DB user and password on running shop

Recommended Posts

Dear Forum!

I have a live and running shop, working perfect. But!

  1. I'm running the shop with a db user and password for a specific database.
  2. I need and want to change this user to another db user for this database.
  3. I have added a new db user with suitable access rights to the same database.
  4. It's working perfect to access and log in to the database manually from localhost with this new user.
  5. I have succsessfully logged on from a putty prompt and accessed the db with "mysql -u username -p".

Everything is working perfect! But!

  1. I edit and and change settings.inc.php with the new db user and password.
  2. The site stops working and the browser says: Can't establish i link to database.

How is this even possible?

This should work as I can access the db from localhost from the db server prompt. But not from Prestashop as I get the "cant establish yada yada yada... error...

Am I stupid or what is going on?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you find out how to change the database name, user or password on your running shop?

I have the same issue here. I don't see where to change it in BO and based on your comments don't want o touch the settings.inc.php file.
