toninovak
I just did a fresh install of 1.5.3 for a new site and since this is the first I've used the new version, I was reading through the documentation. It states that under preferences, you can make changes to the database settings and change the tables engine. However, there is no link to database under my preferences menu and I can't find it anywhere else in the store. Screen shot of menu attached. Is this a misprint in the new documentation? Do we no longer have access to the DB settings in 1.5? It was there on 1.4. I am just setting up the store so I am hoping I don't run into any issues with it. Thanks for any info on this topic. Xavier Borderie
I was reading through the documentation. I'd be curious to know where you read that in the 1.5 documentation Do we no longer have access to the DB settings in 1.5? It was there on 1.4. Indeed, the whole tab was dropped for 1.5, because it was deemed both unsafe and too accessible, thus risking break the back-office itself (making it impossible to go back to a working setting). Those technical enough to understand the need to change the engine should use phpMyAdmin.
toninovak
Oh, I see where my mistake was. I was actually reading the 1.4 documentation. Thank you for the fast response. I was just trying to learn which DB engine was the best to use.
