Sorting 'search', 'specials' etc. differently by default than rest

Hey,

 

I'm using "sort by position in category" as default for a shop I'm running, but I would very much like some product lists (eg. specials, search) to sort by price by default and others (eg. new products) to sort by newest added product - and maybe even more custom-default sortings

 

I'm sure that this is possible somehow, but I don't know how/which files to edit, so hoping that someone much smarter than me could lend a hand.

 

Anyone?
