How to widen complete website

Hello,

 

I'm new to Prestashop and I'm at a loss already.... I have some coding experience but not much and I would like to widen the complete shop a bit because on the left and right there's a lot of white space. Because I already installed the module with which the products are listed in a grid rather than a list, I would like to widen the complete shop so that the grid displays 4 items in 1 row instead of the 2 that now barely fit in the centre column. I got word that it would be best to change the container_9 class in the grid_prestashop.css file and I found that file and tried to change widths but I don't understand any of these grids systems, so I'm kind of lost now and can't seem to find the correct values to change.

 

Is there somebody who can advise me in this? I also tried to change the width of the page in global.css but it didn't work.

 

I would really appreciate any help offered!

 

Also, I'm now building a test shop in a test sub directory on my ftp, with a test database. If I am finished building the shop, is it than possible to move the complete shop to another directory and add a new, fresh database or is this not possible?
