buggindave
Hi everyone, I've been put through the wringer with this Prestashop upgrade. I went from the stable 1.4.7 version to this 1.5.1 version that has been causing all sorts of problems. First the ajax cart and jquery caused my shared server hosting environment to run soooo slow that it finally pushed me into purchasing a spot of a dedicated server, which sped up the store considerably. Then I noticed the Fedex module was no longer operating. After checking it, I discover that the Soap module and Webservices were not functioning. I had my tech install Soap on the server, and this made the Fedex module function, but it once again causes the store to take over 30 seconds to load. My question is this: Where do I go from here? This whole upgrade has cost us so much money that I hate thinking about it. More specifically... Should I just give up on version 1.5.1 and go back to 1.4.7? I hate to do this because the new layout for version 1.5 is very attractive, but if it doesn't run or operate properly, looks don't mean much. Our USPS shipping module functions great without Soap (which is odd because the USPS module wouldn't function at all with our old version), so is there also a Fedex shipping module that functions without Soap? Would eliminating Soap from the server environment cause issues later down the line for me? Are these runtime issues solved in 1.5.2? Are the developers aware of this issue? I have seen similar posts in the forum, but is a fix in the works? Thank you for your help. -Dave Cross www.SmallPetFeeders.com

AlCatt
Hi Dave, I see that your post is dated in October and we are now in December and I don't see any other replies. I'm having trouble with my Fedex Module now and thats why I'm here because I'm searching for answers. I don't know what 'Soap' is. I only use Fedex in my store. The issue I'm having right now is that the system will not retain and apply a handling charge. Not only that but the proportional freight charge is incorrect when you add items in the cart. For example you click on an item that is one pound, the freight is $12.90. If you click to add one the freight is 13.10 which seems ok since the items are only one pound. But if you add 8 more and make it 10 pcs the freight ends up at about 13.50 for all 10. So thats what I mean by out of proportion. The freight charge just doesn't make sense. My version is 1.5.3 which I see now is up a few from your 1.5.1 From your experience can you shed some light on my problem?
smallstar67
As per normal, prestashop is giving you the least amount of info possible. Having spent 4 days getting my FedEx mod to function, let me save all of you time. Yes Soap is a PHP function that needs to be enabled on the server. What they don't tell you is that you must have a cache system enabled on the server, and have that same system enabled in the performance section of prestashop. Bam,, Fedex works. I chose Xcache of the three listed in the prestashop performance section.
