Has Anyone got Prestashop site to work for digital downloadable products??

Recommended Posts

Firstly must say that I love the concept and layout of prestashop.

I want to sell digital products - (a zip file including mp3's, pdfs etc).
I have no problems setting up the site, uploading files, adjusting modules etc, but always run into difficulty with the email / download link after the digital / virtual purchase has been made.

Payment works (payapl) but never the link to download it.

I've been experimenting for at least 6 months now. have tried 1.008 and 1.1, but still running into problems

WOULD LOVE TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS GOT A PRESTASHOP BASED SHOP SELLING DIGITAL (Virtual) PRODUCTS up and running????? and working 100%

Should i look elsewhere.....ubercart &drupal;?

Well, I've got it working using a standard installation of PrestaShop and setting the sample MacBook as a downloadable product, but I didn't seem to get a notification - as a customer - that my download was ready and waiting for me.

(I was able to download the file by manually going to "My orders", open product details and click the product name (ie MacBook))

Precisely - I can see my order as a customer if i order a free product (ie $0.00), but i get no notification by email.
If i order a digital product of any amount , say $1.00, my payment goes through (paypal) however i still get no download link either by email OR in my order history.

I'm currently using 1.1.

Anyone else have these issues?

But what gave you the impression it was supposed to send a notification / download link afterwards? I haven't seen it mentioned as such anywhere?

Yeah, but if i pay for a downloadable product I'd like to actually receive it......

Well yeah, it's not that I don't agree with you but it kinda explains why it's not doing that now. Did you file it as a feature request already?

The virtual goods process, as I know.

1/ buy the virtual product
2/ When the order status comfirm the paiement or on delivery status a email is sent contaning a coded link to the virtual good. This link is supposed to work 1 or more time depending on the setup of the product.

You can force the Email by updating the order status.

At the beginning of this feature, it's work well.
But I experience 2 issues since update with email and the link.
When I force the email, the link act as if I allready done the download.

I will tell you more with the 1.2 alpha 2 after finishing updating.

Can you precise the prestashop version?

Can you precise the setup of the virtual goods?
number of download et time setup.

As you mention free product, customer still have to pass trhought the paiement process in order to receive the download link email?

Yeah seen the bug tracker on this but for now I imported all my download products with comment in the description to read " please go to your account page after ordering to view and download your chosen product"
At least informs the customer where to go and check until is fixed.

Message :Vous avez atteint le nombre maximum de téléchargements autorisés.
You reach the maximum number of download authorised.

Maximum download is set to 3

I have my website fully up and running.

http://www.nologodownloads.com

I, like Snol, tell my customers to go to My Account to download the products, so I don't care much about having an e-mail sent out.
As far as I remember, I did receive a confirmation e-mail with the link to download the product and it worked, but I may have that confused with the crappy Magento Commerce. (It's better for digital downloads, but there are no free modules, even though has tons of more users than PrestaShop, and it is very unconsumer friendly when navigating products.)

I have tried downloading the products by actually purchasing them and using the download link, and they work.

The only problem I've encountered is that my web host doesn't allow files to be uploaded over 128 MB via PHP, because I don't have a dedicated server. And I can't upload a dummy product (small file size) via PHP and then replace said file with the actual file via FTP. (It may have something to do with removing the ".zip" part of the file name to replace it with something like "6dfc7892e3a32e12ebefa7f0f8b64ff6d6eacc6b")

Does anyone know an FTP upload workaround?

Hi ŽI already asked this but I would need quick answer soon if possible!

If you have shop with digital "downloadable" products can you have large files hosted on another server?

Will prestashop support off-site hosting on antoher server?

Or files could also be on the same server but under another domain?

Is this possible and how?

Thanks for your help

Digital Downloadable Products do work. using version 1.4

Please check the following I went through a few issues and worked through them so hopefully this will help:

1. Is this a downloadable product? Checked

2. Make sure your file has successfully uploaded. (NOTE: it appears if you have periods . in the file name it won't work. For instance I tried nameofthefilev1.1.pdf and the uploads kept failing, but nameofthefile1p1.pdf did work).

3. Number of Downloads (this must not be 0) if it is - your downloads will not work. When I had this set to zero - downloads from the email to my customers did not work - the link was broken, but the downloads from the actual prestashop site did work? go figure. When I changed this to Number of Downloads = 5 my email download links automagically worked.
Lesson: put a number (other than zero) in the Number of Downloads.

4. make sure your quantity is large enough.

I hope that helps. With this setup it seemed to work. #3 took a while to figure out though.
