indus
Hello Presta Team As promised, your new release of Prestashop 1.4.9 has definite improvements in speed over the previous version. My Time to First Byte (TTFB) has dropped from around 1.2 seconds to 600-700ms. That is a reduction of 50% . I finally get a 'D' on webpagetest.org for TTFB instead of 'F'. Iam on shared hosting. I dont have all options in CCC enabled, the first one i have diabled since it breaks my theme. So i would imagine it will be faster for those who use CCC. Otherwise, everything feels nice and smooth with this release. I highly recommend this release to everyone. Good luck ! indus
I have made another observation and got a 'C' this time ! In CCC, the last option if i set it to 'Compress inline JavaScript in HTML after "smarty compile" execution' the TTFB is higher. But if keep it original i have finally got a C. 500 ms first byte time, this is awesome. I ran the test quite a few times and it had the same behaviour. Maybe a coincidence iam not sure. So i hope all of you have similar results like i do. Edited August 25, 2012 by indus (see edit history)
rturner
I wasn't going to upgrade from 1.4.6.2 (I have too many custom changes) until I saw your post on the speed increase. I have been tweaking, etc. for months trying to make my site faster. This upgrade did it! Thanks to the developers! My database runs much quicker now. I used the latest autoupgrade module and checked the "disable all custom modules" box. I got the database error at the end that a lot of others are getting, but my site works fine and much faster now. I had full backups of everything, so I wasn't worried about disasters.
