shellxie Posted January 16, 2012 Share Posted January 16, 2012 I use 1.4.6.2 version. I use Godaddy 4GH hosting with MySQL database. I setup a local test environment with win7 +apache+mysql+php. It is of 64 bits. I can import csv file of categories with english field names and parent categories successfully at both local and Godaddy hosting. I can import CSV file of categories with Simple Chinese field names and parent categories successfully at local host. But when I began to import csv file with Chinese into Godaddy hosting, I always failed and was displayed"the follwoing field is invalid according to the method IsCatalogName". When I uploaded file, I select Category from drop manu, select Simple Chinese as default language, click "next step", I find the Name column is blank. I can not see any category names in Chinese, even though I have set BO default language as Simple Chinese. I killed my self 2 days for the issue. I don't know where I operated by error. I understand you are experiencing difficulties importing your csv file with Chinese characters. In order to successfully import this list, you will need to change the character set and collation within your database." I don't know how to change the character set and collation with my database. I asked Godaddy how to change them within my database at Godaddy, they refused to assistant. "While we can assist with many technical issues that arise, we can not assist with site development or coding. It would be advised to refer to your preferred search engine or scripting forum or website for assistance with developing or modifying the code that you are needing. If you determine that the issue is with our hosting accounts please reply with the information so that we know where to start troubleshooting the issue.." Because in my local WAMP computer I can import csv file with Chinese character correctly and in Godaddy hosting I can't, so I checked the character set of both my local computer and Godaddy hosting. Please see the screen shot of both. They are obviously different from each other.
