geronimo
Ohh, I know already that I'm going to be popular with this, but let me ask the question first and explain later: Why don't we make a prestashop implementation with LESSCSS and ditch smarty? Now let me explain, why I'm asking this: I come from a world, where theming requires knowing the functions, that the platform uses (thinking about the content object in drupal or the loop in wordpress). I have never felt any affection towards smarty. Now, recently I started making another project with prestashop, also trying out lesscss and what came to my mind was: why not make less the primary hub for giving elements like columns and images certain dimensions, etc and use php for the rest of the themes functionality. Now why could this be a good idea? It could be a could idea to bundle everything with fluid layouts and media queries by default. It could take Prestashop further (not because it needs that, it's great already) in the world of shop systems and burden theme creators less with adjusting the basic three column layout for their clients. I'm just throwing this idea out there, what are the opinions on this? Is it completely insane or would it be worth a shot?
Raphaël Malié
Hello Geronimo, all I can say is that in 1.6 a lot of work will be made on the frontoffice. I can't say exactly what because we have to discuss a lot about this feature, but there will be a lot of changes for the best
