How to update theme(1.3x) to latest version of prestashop

Hello,

 

Today I downloaded and installed the current version of prestashop (1.4.6.2) onto my server. I had purchased a theme a few days ago, but it is compatible w/version 1.3x. How can I go about updating the theme to work with the current version of prestashop?

 

I am a beginner and I have never worked with prestashop, but I am willing to learn if someone is nice enough to help :-)
