Size combinations and stock quanities in product admin

Hi

 

OK I sell handmade headbands in various sizes. When I make up a new design lets say I have 2 of the them, I don't mount them until I know what size the elastic should be, which is any one of 4 sizes. So I want the catalog to register a quantity of only 2 flowers in stock, but I want the customer to be able to choose any one of 4 sizes. I can't do this at the moment because the combinations selector will only show the attributes for which there is stock. (so I would need 4 flowers for this to work)

 

So How can I get round this with a product listing containing 2 stock quantity with a simple drop down to choose one of 4 sizes, which isn't based on attribute quantities. Basically i need a 'color picker' which in my case picks headband sizes and has nothing to do with combination quantities?

 

Any ideas?
