Email test spins using own SMTP

Recommended Posts

I'm using the PHP mail function right now but for whatever reason the IP my server is on has trouble sending to some US domains. It is being marked as spam though my host says it should not be happening.

Needless to say this can be a problem.

I have tried using my own email provider's smtp settings as well as gmail and whenever i do this, save and try a test email the spinning wheel goes on forever and the screen never refreshes with a message, good or bad. Emails are never sent and it leaves me with only using the bad php setting.

Is there a way I can debug this to see what is happening when the wheel is spinning? what is it doing? is it encountering an exception?

I am on the latest version of Prestashop.

I have a very similar problem:

I configure my smtp settings, then I hit the save button and the page tells me I succesfully changed my settings BUT the password field is now empty (all the others are just fine).

I try sending the test email but I never get pass the spinning wheel. Not a single failure/success message, nor I get the test email.

I've been using the php config but it's also useless as the messages take waaaay too long to arrive, 60-90 minutes. It's been driving me crazy!

Can anyone help us?

this has been a ongoing problem since I started using this software almost a year ago. I I find it odd that the developers either don't care or can't reproduce it. I either way i've never been contacted to help. I I would gladly allow a dev view my installation. The it it would help.
