Not sure why .com domain shoud be a problem. Many businesses in EU, even my competitors, use .com domain. I also sell globally.
Still, this is a minor issue for me, as my primary problem is that Google completely ignores my eshop. Once this solves (no idea how) then I can think about better domain name.
