Thanks for the reply, but the thing is that if i put TLS andmake a test in the error I can ee that the url is still beginning with ssl:// as if it was harcoded somewhere and I do not have any module others than the native ones that could cae the issue , and sendmail would just not work anymore so I had to use an external smtp server which is no idea as it shouldall work fine by default but since we swapped to 9 emails stopped working as they should even on a fresh clean install, by default they do not work, and even with external smtp i have to send without encryption otherwise I get same issue, still see ssl:// by default in the error

I removed the $isTls forced parameter from the construct in classes/Mail.php and the error disappeared. And it seems to work with port 465 also. I think that the encryption can be removed from settings completely. It will automatically use the correct one depending on the port it seems.

$transport = (new EsmtpTransport( $smtpServer, $smtpPort )) ->setUsername($smtpLogin) ->setPassword($smtpPassword) ;

Well, thank you very much for your input, i will denitly check this out closely, but i find it strange to not have more people pointing this issue out, because this would not on a simple clean install just recentely downloaded, no modules nothing, nore sendmail nore smtp get to work , how strange. But thank you again, i will fiddle around on another test site as for now the smtp service we have is doing the trick, but I just don't get this, why not even sendmail would work  out of the box ... will probably stay a mistery 🙂
