US Likes Milk With Their Cookies — Why Popups Don’t Belong in American Ecommerce

Cookie banners may be required in the EU and UK, but in the U.S. they create friction that drives shoppers away. American customers see data collection as a fair trade for relevant ads — they don’t expect to “accept” cookies before buying. In this post, we explain U.S. vs. EU rules, what counts as non-essential cookies, and why showing banners to American visitors can hurt conversions. Stop annoying U.S. shoppers — give them the milk with their cookies, not an extra popup.
