Why has PS9 just been released with the old 0.2 version of Hummingbird when 1.0 was released in January?

1. The “v1.0” on GitHub is a developer preview, not the stable theme integrated with PS9 yet

GitHub shows a v1.0 release dated Jan 29, 2025—but it's labeled as a development release, intended for testing and not yet production-ready build.prestashop-project.org+11github.com+11prestashop.com+11github.com.

2. PS9 launch deliberately bundled the stable v0.2 to ensure reliability

When PS9 launched on June 10, 2025, the team chose to include Hummingbird v0.2—the last stable version—to ensure compatibility and stability build.prestashop-project.org.

What’s next? v1.x will follow soon,  production shops should wait at least for v1.x.

The roadmap suggests v0.3/v1.0 will land in a future release—likely PS 9.1 or PS 10—after thorough testing and theming validation

• Developers: Feel free to test the GitHub v1.0 locally—it's there for experimentation—but expect some work to integrate it into a full PS9 install.  Use GitHub to report issues.
• Production stores: Wait
• Keeping  track: Watch for upcoming versions (v0.3 or v1.x) aligned with PS9.x updates or the PS10 release.

What do I recommend?

This is a developer preview, if you are savvy ps'er, go kick the tires and report bugs in Github to make it a better product.
