andyfick
Hi, I'm currently looking to move our GA4 and Google Ads tracking to server-side using a server-side GTM container. I'm struggling to find much information about this, so I'm interested to know if anyone has implemented it successfully. I'm comfortable setting up the server-side container, so I don't think an all-in-one service (like Stape) is necessary, but I'm not sure what the best approach is to get the dataLayer set up in Prestashop itself. Has anyone been able to do this successfully? I'm on Prestashop 8.1.5, using the Warehouse theme.
Knowband Plugins
Why do you prefer using server-side GTM over client-side? From what I see, the only major benefit is avoiding ad blockers otherwise, it seems like it requires extensive coding just to collect and send page data. andyfick
Thanks for the reply, and that's a good question. This is being driven by our ad agency, who want more accurate stats into Google Ads, and also are concerned that the move away from cookies generally is going to make client-side tracking less accurate overall. I was considering just putting separate client-side tracking in for Google Ads, but thought I'd look at moving everything to server-side if that's ultimately where we're heading anyway. I'm interested in opinions though, as this is not an area I'm particularly familiar with.
