Alternative and generally from experience dont use prestashop checkout, since release its been error prone. Use the default checkout, do not use addons, they antiques, assuming you can still get payment modules you need. Stripe is pretty awesome if they still offer it, they are pushing people to prestashop checkout for monetary reason and perfectly reasonable but not rock solid three years later.
