i read in your module description:

Validates the company name matches the VAT number in the VIES database

spanish vat codes on vies database are anonym, no company info are provided because Spain not shares that kind of information. if you check the vies db with a valid spanish vat you will see.

i suggest to add a on/off feature in the config page
