Trying to upgrade 1.5 to 1.6. Getting error: /install/upgrade/php directory is missing in archive or

Recommended Posts

I have tried to find an answer on the forums for this but nothing I have tried has worked. I am trying to upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6. I could not find a /install/upgrade/php directory so I took these folders from the 1.6  download and copied them over to my site directory. I then ran the 1click upgrade and got the same error.

I checked the permissions on the install folder, and they are 777 on every one. I still get the error.

Can any one let me know what is wrong and how to fix this.

Thank you

Bill

Sorry, I have spent a lot of time trying to get help in the 1.6 forum and never saw this thread..but I had been running into the same problem with a test update on my wamp server.  For me the solve was this.

From the sound of your post it seems that you were likely doing the update where you download the version you wanted to upgrade to.  With this there are some instructions here: http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS16/Automatic+update            that I have found to be pretty accurate and helpful.  For downloading the update, as instructed in the link you will likely want to use the "local directory" or "local archive" option; however, I have found (and this is where I was getting the error and solved it) that for some reason, rather than just putting the unzipped updated version folder only in the "download" or "latest" folders respectively (depending on whether you are doing the directory or archive route) I had to put the update folder in both.  I noticed this because when I was following the instructions in 1.5 for archive, it stated in one sentence to put it in download and in another (the same sentence where I had to input the version I was updating to) it said to place the update folder in latest.  I kept getting the error until I put it in both.  The link above will give instructions where you can find which download and latest folders to put the update into.  hope this helps.  You may need to start again from scratch with a backup to do the upgrade unless you can remove all the changes you made.  In any case, once things are set back to your original files, follow the instructions on the link and then place the unzipped update folders of 1.6 of your choosing and place them as noted above.  The update should go through.

I sure hope you have your 1.5X backed up, because in all likelihood you will most likely have problems upgrading and will need to retry a few times to get it all set up right.  I have lost my front office sign in option and some hooks are gone or not working relating to customer accounts and I have gotten little help so far as to how I can fix it.  I am getting hte impression that no one has answers for my from office log in problem.  Hope the above helps.  Good luck. :)
