  1. Thanks Rocky Once again you come to my rescue ! Much appreciated !
  2. How do I make my site visible to Google. Apart from adding a number of keywords (SEOS) in my dashboard, how do I now get google to find my site. I only added the keywords to the Index page. Is this something I need to buy from Google ? Or ? Thanks George
  3. I went to the SEO URLS section and keyed in a number of Keywords under the Index page (only) Value is called Meta Keywords I saved each one (I could not understand how to apply 50 at one time so I keyed them one by one) You suggested that this be done to some or all of the pages (this would be a H U GE amount of work to key in 60 values on each page (doesn't make sense that you should spend several hours keying Keywords) Once they are keyed, I cannot see what was keyed - is this the way it is - You key it all in and see nothing ? This also does not make sense to me - How do I know what I keyed ? Once keyed in, is there a need to "push" it all to search engines like Google ? How would this be done please ? Thanks for your help George
  4. Thanks for the suggestion I am obviously the only person in the world that would want to clear their website dashboard data before going live - is that odd ? I cannot find the suggested module - Prestashop have gone to extraordinary lengths to 1) Leave out a function that EVERYONE NEEDS 2) Have well hidden the possibliity of achieving a standard requirement I have searched and searched and searched and searched and cannot find the module you have suggested I guess I'll try to get into the back of the database and manually delete the crap that is in there Thanks again for trying to help someone who has had nothing but frustration using Prestashop for the first time The attached image is what comes up in the modules when searching for Prestashop Cleaner
  5. Can someone please explain how to clear the demo data out of the dashboard so that "real" data will start to be displayed (not just demo data). Changing the DEMO switch doesn't seem to do anything Thanks
  6. Is there a place in Prestashop where I can set up the key words which will hopefully be found by search engines (to find my site). ? Thanks
  7. Store URL is www.gifts4you4ever.com.au There are less than 100 products in the items list My other major problem is that the item list does not sort other than in descending Product Reference order. I want it sorted in ascending Product reference order
  8. This may be a clue When adding a new product to the webstore IT DOES NOT ADD So I presume this means that prestashop is not working correctly Again ADD A PRODUCT - IT DOES NOT ADD ON TO THE LIST Is this how prestashop is meant to work - surely not Where do I start to debug a system which does not do even simple things However - try try try try try try try try again and again and sometimes the product will add on Is there someone who can look at what is going on in my site ? PLEASE HELP
  9. The Price set in my system has been changed to $10 The price which continues to show when ordering regardless what I do is $7.95
  10. I have a list of products which have product references The products can only be displayed showing the Latest products I would like to show all the products in Reference order whenever someone goes to the shop - I do not want to just show the new product I added today and not show all the rest of my products How does a new customer come to understand that you need to click on a button to see something Is this impossible with prestashop ? Is this a hardwired feature in PS - cannot be changed option because no one else in the world wants to show their products - just the new ones when a new visitor comes to the site ? I want whats under the POPULAR BUTTON - NOT THE NEW ARRIVALS BUTTON I have specified that I want the products to show in reference order I gather this is also impossible with PS - IT just does not work as you would expect (could this be a bug?) Am I asking the wrong question to the wrong people ? I have a Belvg theme - is this their theme doing this or does every PS System work like this ?
  11. When I first installed PS I set the shipping charge to $7.95 Later I changed it to $10 - IT IS NOW SET AT $10 FOR quite some time When ever you order something, it wants to charge $7.95 There is no $7,95 anywhere in the system (I think) Why is it charging the old rate instead of $10 I am guessing there is a hidden place I dont know about which still holds the $7.95 (somewhere NOT in the shipping preference setting) Can anyone help please ?
  12. Sorry but I am out of suggestions - sounds like to need to approach the Prestashop Support Team directly
  13. I have installed the GiftShop theme from belVG - my website is working. belVG tell me that they have no control over the number of products displayed - this is totally in Prestashop's control. However, no matter what I do, the number of products displayed is not more than 12 per page This becomes rather useless as I have about 100 products I have made a setting of 100 products per page in both the standard settings and also in the theme settings The term "per page" is also a useless term as there is no means to go to page 2 or 3 or 4 etc There is no navigation and the pageup, pagedown buttons on the keyboard do nothing belVG tell me that they have absolutely no control of the number of products that show - this is a setting in Prestashop Therefore they are saying that the limit of PRESTASHOP is 12 products I SUSPECT THIS IS NOT TRUE (how could Prestashop be so popular with only 12 products) I am frustrated as I need my website working - I have never worked with Prestashop before - perhaps this is how it works Can anyone suggest how I should proceed from here as belVG are not able to help AT ALL (they just tell me over and over again that it is the way Prestashop works) The only way I can display more than 12 products is if I search for a value which is common within the products - then I can see 28 products, for example However this is not very useful as a new person coming to the website really needs all the products to be presented to them automatically I also need to configure what happens when you click on the Facebook Link at the bottom of the page - again - belvg dont have a response to this (presumably they standard answer - This is a Prestashop setting - nothing to do with our theme Does any one in the Prestashop have a suggestion how this can be configured - I have hunted through the settings but cant find any reference to configuring the base buttons HELP PLEASE
  14. DOCUMENTATION (YOU MAY HAVE ALREADY FOLLOWED) Moving PrestaShopA PrestaShop installation does seldom remain at the same physical place. There are many reasons why you would need to move your PrestaShop files and data around: Moving your shop from your local computer to your online server. Moving your shop from a test sub-domain to the main domain. Moving your shop from one server to another. Moving your shop from one domain name to another. In all of these circumstances, you must be careful to properly move both all of your files (including the custom images, your themes, the modules you bought...) and all your data (which is contained in your MySQL database). Moving PrestaShop to a New ServerHere are the main steps when changing servers, or copying from your local hard-drive to your online server: Put your shop in maintenance mode, so as to not lose new customers or orders while moving the data. Go to your back office, and under the "Preference" menu, open the "Maintenance" page and set the "Enable shop" option to "No". Move your files: Make a backup of all the files: connect to your FTP server, and copy all the files and folders to your local hard-drive. Transfer your files to your new host: Connect to the FTP server for your new host, and copy all the files and folders that you just downloaded to your local hard-drive, as is. Move your data: Make a backup of you database (a "dump"): connect to phpMyAdmin, click on the "Export" tab, select the database of your PrestaShop installation, and click the "Go" button. Save the downloaded file on your hard-drive. If phpMyAdmin times out before it is able to export all your data, contact your host. Transfer the SQL dump to the new database: connect to the new server's phpMyAdmin, click on the "Import" tab, click the "Browse..." button, find the SQL file you just downloaded, and click the "Go" button to upload it. If phpMyAdmin times out before it is able to import all your data, contact your new host. Configure your shop: On the new server, open the /config/settings.inc.phpfile and update the settings for the new database server (with your own settings instead of the examples here): define('_DB_SERVER_', 'sql.domainname.com'); define('_DB_NAME_', 'prestashop'); define('_DB_USER_', 'PS-user'); define('_DB_PASSWD_', 'djsf15'); define('_DB_PREFIX_', 'ps_'); Log in to your back office, go to the "Preferences" menu, select the "SEO & URLs" page, and in the "Set shop URL" section change the domain name to your new domain. Do the same for the SSL domain. In effect, this will update the "ps_shop_url" SQL table (as well as the "PS_SHOP_DOMAIN" and "PS_SHOP_DOMAIN_SSL" rows in the "ps_configuration" SQL table, for retrocompatibility reasons). Connect to your new FTP server and delete everything except the index.phpfiles in the following folders: /cache/smarty/cache /cache/smarty/compile Go to your back office, and in the "Maintenance" preference page, set the "Enable shop" option back to "Yes". You should be good to go! Check that all the links are functioning, that all your products, images, modules and themes are still there, and try to create a new account and place an order so as to make sure your shop is working as expected. Moving PrestaShop to a New DomainHere are the main steps when moving PrestaShop to a new domain within the same server. These are mostly a simpler version of the above steps – we do not touch the data, which stays on the same MySQL server. Put your shop in maintenance mode, so as to not lose new customers or orders will moving the data. Go to your back-office, and under the "Preference" menu, open the "Maintenance" page and set the "Enable shop" option to "No". Move your files Make a backup of all the files: connect to your FTP server, and copy all the files and folders to your local hard-drive. Transfer your files to your new host: Connect to the FTP server for your new host, and copy all the files and folders that you just downloaded to your local hard-drive, as is. Configuration On the new server, open the /config/settings.inc.php file and update the settings for the new database server (with your own settings instead of the examples here): define('_DB_SERVER_', 'sql.domainname.com'); define('_DB_NAME_', 'prestashop'); define('_DB_USER_', 'PS-user'); define('_DB_PASSWD_', 'djsf15'); define('_DB_PREFIX_', 'ps_'); Log in to your back office, go to the "Preferences" menu, select the "SEO & URLs" page, and in the "Set shop URL" section change the domain name to your new domain. Do the same for the SSL domain. In effect, this will update the "PS_SHOP_DOMAIN" and "PS_SHOP_DOMAIN_SSL" rows in the "ps_configuration" SQL table. Connect to your new FTP server and delete everything except the index.phpfiles in the following folders: /tools/smarty/cache /tools/smarty/compile /tools/smarty_v2/cache /tools/smarty_v2/compile Go to your back office, and in the "Maintenance" preference page, set the "Enable shop" option back to "Yes". You should be good to go! Check that all the links are functioning, that all your products, images, modules and themes are still there, and try to create a new account and place an order so as to make sure your shop is working as expected.
