  1. Hi Kamal, thanks for the response, I decided in the end to create a completely new site and then I used Migration Pro to copy across all data from existing site. This worked very well actually from the point of view of transfer of data. The problem is that PS gets less and less user-friendly by each version and things that I could handle quite comfortably with the tools and BO interface in 1.5.3.1, I am struggling to achieve in 1.7.7.2! The omission of the WYSIWYG editor in "Positions" is a major loss and made things so simple to help customise your site this textual block/hook/transplant system is a total nightmare! If I was being synical, I'd say that PS is trying to make it more complicated so that users must go to developers to sort out problems, rather than simplifying it to make it easier for DIY. I've been operating PS sites for 7-8 years now but this latest is the worst yet.
  2. I have the answer on the price difference - apparently there is a "glitch" in Prestashop site regarding the handling of GBP - which is pretty damn bad as far as I am concerned and if it was the UK I would be reporting to Trading Standards. If you switch to Euros (the setting is way down at the bottom of the page where you click to purchase - there is a choice of Euro/dollars/GBP) the additional amount is NOT added and also the product appears cheaper! I'm not blaming Brexit or anything but it certainly appears a bit naughty to me! This answer has come from another source - Prestashop still have not responded to my query so, as with so many other things, they obviously don't give a ****! (insert expletive of your choice) I was/am a huge fan of Prestashop since I came across it 8 years ago when I needed to build a web-site for my new business venture and I'm now on my 4th but I'm not enjoying it this time not one little bit. Totally agree with your last para, I purchased a company with a Wix site - it was a nightmare just trying to get "my" pictures out of them.
  3. Yes, that is what I thought. When I started using PS 7 years ago on 1.5.3 I found it great - I found it relatively straightforward to use, the module layout in the BO was clear and made perfect sense. The "positions" had a tool whereby you could visually see where the blocks and hooks were and could physically pick them up and move them. I find PS 1.7.7.2 totally confusing and not user friendly. You have to be prepared to pay or be very comfortable with php and HTML to manage your site and they don't answer questions any more. Like all things these days it starts out as a great idea and then turns into just a money generator. I have asked twice now why there is a price difference between the headline price of modules and the amount when it is in your cart. e.g. Migration Pro £156.99 (Zen Option) changes to £159.99 in cart plus VAT which HMRC stated on the phone to me that EU companies should not be adding to UK Company invoices (I was importing from Poland and needed clarification). End of rant - good luck guys!
  4. Hi Roboy, may I ask you where you find the WYSIWYG editor, please? I am in the (drawn out) process of changing my site from 1.5.3.1 to 1.7.7.2 and although the editor was clearly present in "Modules>Positions" in 1.5 I have been unable to find it in 1.7.7.2. Frankly, I'm finding the latest PS user unfriendly in many ways - 1.5 seemed much more intuitive. Cheers Bob
  5. In the end I shelled out for the Migration Pro - it isn't a coverall solution (still lots of work to be done to get the site as functional as it was) but it has taken the tedium out of transferring manually all the site data.
  6. Hi Guys, I am just creating a brand new site in 1.7.7.2 and yesterday migrated the old 1.5 site into it. Obviously there is a lot of tweaking to do to get the old to work in the new which I am slowly working my way through. I have a problem now for which I can't track down the reason. Everything on the site that I can check via the BO is in English yet when I look at orders the payment status is in Spanish. I can live with that in the BO but I checked on front page and clicked "My account - orders" and that was showing in Spanish. I have looked everywhere - can anyone shed any light on this and how to change it please. I also just noticed that the payment confirmation email has "Pagamento acettato" in the email subject. This is really bad for me as it implies that my business is based in Spain - which I most certainly do not want customers to think. Thanks in anticipation
  7. So - I have a website running 1.5.3.1 on php 5.6 - I understand that php 5.6 is deprecated and my host is warning that I should upgrade to later php. I understand that upgrading to 1.7.x from 1.5.x is almost impossible so where do I go with this? What versions of PS are compatible with the latest versions of php. My host currently offers versions 5.6, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 and 8. Any suggestions on how I should upgrade my site ......... or is it not worth the effort and "if it ain't broke don't fix it" - trouble is it is breaking - odd errors keep cropping up and I'm thinking I keep patching a sinking ship and it's time to build a new one! Thanks in advance for any input/thoughts

  9. +44 (0)20-7122-0917 Don't know what part of the world where you are but this is the help number for Braintree in the UK they can probably definitively answer your question ........... if they've heard of Prestashop. My understanding of all this is that PayPal have gone off the rails. We operate the PayPal Module and have all sorts of scrambling problems but the fact of the matter is that we never get any of the customers card details because the module diverts them to the PayPal site to process the transaction. The connection which PayPal are incorrectly getting all upset about is when they contact our site to tell us that the payment has gone through. Obviously, they are not going to include any of the customers details - they just confirm payment - so what's the need for any encryption. I think they've finally come to their senses as my PayPal account has been "limited" for about a week now but today I logged on and there's a pop up that asks you to type "I Agree" into a box and voila suddenly my PP account is opened up again. They've obviously been so inundated with angry account holders that they've finally realised that they are talking "b******s".
  10. I got an error message about not being able to insert so I'm trying this here is one of our products but it is happening with all the customisable items. Thanks
  11. In our case it is clicking "save" that generates the error message so this "fix" does not work. I have searched forums without success I should be grateful for help with this there are questions about customisation problems but none seem to match our situation. We have just spent hundreds of pounds on Google Adwords wondering why we were not getting any orders only to discover that the site does not work for this reason. Desperate! one of our products is here http://giveagift.co.uk/wooden-toys/1-personalised-wooden-train-take-apart-and-pull-along-toy.html

  13. Help please, we run several Prestashop sites - usually without problems but this one giveagift.co.uk is upsetting us. We sell almost exclusively, customised products so we have a box for customisation text to be inserted. However, when the "save" button is pressed we get a pop-up window which says There is 1 error Please fill in all of the required fields, and then save your customizations. With this particular site we are using PS 1.6.1.10 with Uberliss Theme. It is possible to purchase an item without the personalisation. Have tried tracing the fault through code without success, have tried removing the "required status" - no change, then re-instate - no change! I have searched forum but although similar topics have arisen they are not the same problem as we are having. Thank you for any help
  14. Downgrading to 1.5 wouldn't help you anyway as it is the same in that version also with our site I have made changes to the default so I cannot "upgrade" without losing the changes I have made
