Hi Louis, thank you for your reply. I did seek for help in the Dutch Prestashop community. A developer was be able to solve the problem. Which seemed to be related to server caching issue (Litespeed) which prevented to show change in the front.

I tried again to set lenght of product title: reduced it to 10, set it to 100. No change in the front office. If I am the only one with this issue, then then problem might not with Prestashop, then I really don’t know where to look for….. server related, PHP version ? JBW said, is stil working the same way. I have no idea why it is not working on my site. Can anybody respond to my question if you are experiencing problems with truncate product title?

Ik ben benieuwd of een van de forumleden hetzelfde probleem ervaart bij het instellen van de lengte van de product titel (truncate). Indien dit zich alleen bij mij voordoet, dan moet ik het probleem niet bij Prestashop zoeken.

Om de lengte van de product titel aan te passen: ftp: mytheme/template/catalog/partials/miniatures/product.tpl Edit deze file om de lengte van de producttitel aan te passen. Verander je de waarde 30 {$product.name|truncate:30:'...'} in een gewenste waarde b.v. 60 {$product.name|truncate:60:'...'}. Vergeet niet om de aanpassing op te slaan. Soms kan het nodig zijn om de cache te legen en template te forceren.

Unfurtunatly, changing the value at mytheme/template/catalog/partials/miniatures/product.tpl followed by: backoffice, clear cache, backoffice: force template FTP: Clear smarty cache does not give any change in front office. I did fresh install dev-site and tried to change lenght product title to {$product.name|truncate:10:'...'}... followed by backoffice, clear cache, backoffice: force template FTP: Clear smarty cache No change in front office What could I do wrong?

Hi forum members, Until release of Prestashop V 1.7.8.2 I knew how to specify the length of product titles (truncate | product.tpl). With update 1.7.8.3, this approach no longer valid. Does anyone know where to change / specify the product title length in V1.7.8.3?

Hallo forum leden, Tot uitgave van Prestashop V 1.7.8.2 wist ik hoe de lengte van product titels aan de passen (product.tpl) . Met update 1.7.8.3 blijkt deze aanpak niet meer te werken. Weet iemand waar de lengte product titel (truncate) in V 1.7.8.3 aangepast kan worden?

With version 1.7.7.1, fuzzy search was introduced which modified search algorithm. The 'old school' search is not working anymore.

After checking error log, turned out to be permission issue in one of cache folders.. New attempt to upgrade.. failed again. Attached server error log after attempt yo upgrade server_error_log_after_update_PS177.txt

In new attempt to upgrade. 1-click upgrade reports in summary that Prestashop condition are not met. In read more, this issue should be related to PHP version. Our server in on PHP 7.3! According to PS information, this PHP should be okay. We down graded to PHP 7.2, and retried upgrade . Fail.

Same here. 500 error back and front office. Had to restore from backup.

Hallo Wallgrind, Dank voor je suggestie. We hebben m.b.v. DirectAdmin sub-domein aangemaakt . Dat ziet er dan zo uit binnen public_html: domain.nl/public_html/sub-domain/. Https instellingen kunnen voor het sub-domein niet worden aangepast.

Probleem lijkt idd in .htacces te zitten. Overigens wil ik wil afbeeldingen én HTML achter SSL hebben. Anders krijg je van de browser mixed content waarschuwingen. De tips van andrew kirkpatrick gaven geen aanknopingspunt. Vond in Prestashop documentatie hoe een mediaserver op te zetten in een subdomain. (http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS17/Performance) Put a .htaccess file at the root of the subdomain. That file should contain a single line: Redirect Permanent / http://cdn-adress.com Replace the http://cdn-adress.com with the one from your CDN server. This way, you are creating an automatic redirection from your subdomain to your CDN server. Once the subdomain is in place, add it in the first field, "Media server #1". If that host allows for more web addresses, create as many subdomains to your store's main domain name. Bij mij was de .htacces file in elke geval niet conform de aanwijzing van Prestashop. Heb deze deze aangepast. ( Regel in .htacces file voor subfolder static-1: Redirect Permanent / https://static-1.derks-wielersport.nl) . De aanwijzingen van Prestashop gevolgd en correct uitgevoerd. Het probleem blijft echter. Helaas ontbreekt mij de kennis om dit probleem verder te onderzoeken. Tips blijven welkom. Maconl, dank voor de tip. Direct toegepast, directory geleegd (er was geen index.php, is er ook niet bij onze testsite). SSL was/is geactiveerd. Helaas heeft je suggestie niet geholpen. Beste medestrijders, Om de site snelheid te verhogen heb ik geprobeerd een mediaserver te installeren/ activeren via een subdomein. Helaas laden de afbeeldingen niet. Bij ingeschakelde mediaserver is de url naar de afbeelding correct naar het subdomein. Uitgevoerde stappen na installatie: stap 1 .htaccess opnieuw gegenereerd en gecontroleerd.
