The OS on the server is CENTOS. not sure if this is playing a part in this scenario. This may seem like a really odd question but I am assuming the root directory is the main directory where prestashop resides? If this is the case the permissions are already set to 755. Any thoughts.

Need some help desperately. Our company is using Prestashop 1.4.4 and attempting to use the theme installer to upload a zip file from our hard drive. Whenever we attempt the upload we get the following error. 'An error has occurred during the file copy.' I have already updated the permissions as per a previous thread to 777. That did not help. Thanks for any assistance.

I am running P.S. 1.4.5.1 and went to seo and urls to insert metatags. When I try to edit the page it gives me the following error 'Cannot scan root directory'. Any assistance to get around this would be most helpful. Thank you in advance.

Tim, Thank you so much for your reply. I did chmod the permissions to 777. That did in fact clear the error. However I still have NO IMPORT option available under the UPLOAD option in my tools. . I had this problem as well with 1.4.2 and I had to alter the permissions within an actual file but cannot cannot recall which file that was. e.g. the code in the file was set to 655 and I had to update by typing 777 and resaving the file. I have recently upgraded to Prestashop 1.4.3 and have lost the ability to import. I'll explain. When I go the back office / admin / import, I can see an upload area to select a file, but I cannot see an import area at all. The message I see is as follows. "directory import on admin directory must be writable (CHMOD 755 / 777)" I am not certain what area or file I need to change the chmod.
