    I agree with you. To upgrade from 1.4 to 1.6, you should download 1.6 and install as a fresh site, then transfer all your data from 1.4 to 1.6, You wont meet any configuration errors.

    you should go to Modules -> Modules in your admin and disable the module(s):

    Maybe you afterwards need to regenerate thubmnails using "images" > "regenerate thumbnails"

    I think you should use 1.6 for your old shop, do not upgrade to 1.7 because: - Not sure all your addon are compatible with 1.7 - There is no more 1.7 themes for you - Not sure you don't have any bugs (after 1.7 released) I'm using 1.6 and I dont have any plan to upgrade to 1.7 in next 2 years

    There is 1 more cause of this error after upgrading Prestashop. It is: did not generate images. Here is what you need to do: 1. Log into your PrestaShop admin panel and open Preferences -> Images 2. Scroll down untill you see Regenerate thumbnails button. Thumbnails regeneration is something you need to do every time you upload images and change image sizes: 3. There you can select a type of images that should be regenerated – product images, categories images, etc.: 4. Click Regenerate thumbnails button and all the thumbnails will be re-built for you.
