  1. I agree with that. The reason people attempt to do it in the database outside of the system is because the product import is very flaky and doesn't trap and throw errors very well. I get tons of 500 and 403 server errors when attempting to upload. Very discouraging.
  2. Why is the product import so flaky? Hardly any images load, I get 500 errors, 405 errors, etc. I can run the exact same file a minute later and another few products will load. I am really concerned that if this represents the quality of the code that this solution will fail my business. Import/Export are basic functions of any databased product and should work easily.
  3. Resolved My issue was that I had a value in the ID field, even though I told the importer to override it still hosed up the import. When I reviewed the columns I just told the system to ignore the id field and it imported fine.
  4. Hi buttonc. I've been through some of those and solved my particular error. First, on your Excel Template, the files they have are set up like a German file or some such . You need to do the following to solve that: 1. Open the template file you downloaded. 2. Insert a line at the type. 3. In the cell A1 (top left) enter the following text: sep=; This is the best way. You may also be able to save the file, change the extension to .txt (instead of .csv). When you open the saved file, it then automatically starts the Excel parse wizard and you can delimit the file that way. Other issues: Should be no on the ISO questions. My issue was that I had a value in the ID field, even though I told the importer to override it still hosed up the import. When I reviewed the columns I just told the system to ignore the id field and it imported fine. Finally, I recommend you download Notepad++. It is a great text editor, you can set encoding, etc., and best of all, it is FREE!
  5. Hi folks. I'm working on importing my products to Presta Shop from my current website. I have prepared my csv file (almost complete). I like to do a test of just one product before trying to upload all the rest of my products. This is to work out any format errors and make sure the images are formated correctly. I went in and uploaded my test file. I got a successful notice. However, the product was not in the system. It is also not in the database at all. Any idea? How can it be successful upload if it is not there? Thanks.
  6. I think I know the difference between the included USA Paypal and the Paypal Direct Payments module (~$204). The free Paypal module is just for Paypal payments and takes you to Paypal's site to complete payment, correct? I am still working on getting this working (server issues) in sandbox. However, I am beginning to think that Paypal Direct Payments is probably what I want as I use Paypal as my merchant account (credit cards) and do not want customers to leave site for payment. Is this correct? Thanks.
  7. Hi folks. I have a question about shipping configuration. I use a flat rate shipping model, basically free for all US (built into the price of the products) and a weigh range based model for countries outside of the US. Basically the foreign rates come down to Canada, South America, and the rest of the world. However, the geographic range of the shipping that is included basically has ranges only for very broad geographic areas, not countries. I can choose North America, but not Canada (or Mexico, or USA). I can choose South America, but not have a different rate for Brazil versus Argentina. Is this correct? Do I need to purchase a module that does this? I find it surprising that North America would be lumped in all together. Thanks in advance for advice and assistance.
  8. RESOLVED. File permissions were not set correctly. Set permissions to 744 and now works.
  9. Greetings. I installed PrestaShop to try out as a replacement shopping cart. After installation, I am able to access the admin section without problem and have uploaded my logos and created a product. However, I am unable to view my shop. I keep getting an Error 500. I'm using hostgator, cpanel, etc. I do not have a domain assigned to this host yet as it will be moved when we launch new site. Anyone encounter this before? Ideas? TIA. Jack
