A module that prevents two customers to place the same unique items into two carts

All of the products that we sell are one of a kind. I need to either Install a module or make some configurations that items show as "in cart" on the website when it is in someone's cart. That way other customers are unable to add the same item into their cart. System currently does not allow a single user to add an item more than once, but more than one user can add the same item to their cart until it is purchased without warning.
