Languages and translations not working 1.7

Recommended Posts

Using 1.7.4.2

I simply need to use VAT instead of tax so first of all I import a new language (United Kingdom).

It seemed to import fine. I selected the new language under Localisation and de-selected US English from languages. VAT displayed everywhere but my Front end menu and homepage disappeared.

So I changed it back to US English and translated every mention of Tax to VAT. This again seemed to work fine as the translation was saved fine in admin. However everything still says Tax on both the front end, admin and emails.

Is there a known issue with this? has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks for that. I actually figured it out...it seems that I needed to change the translation on the classic theme too even though I was using another theme.
