CYTechnologies Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Hey Capi666,Prestashop allows JPG, PNG, and GIF for product images, is the image you are uploading a proper PNG or GIF?
rocky Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 No, you can't. All image URLs are hardcoded as .jpg so that URL rewriting can work. Although you can upload a GIF or PNG, it will be converted to a JPG when PrestaShop creates the thumbnails.
Stephane13 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 It's impossible to upload a PNG File and keep it on a PNG File ?
rocky Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 That's right. If you upload a PNG file through the Back Office, there is no way to stop it being converted to a JPG file. PrestaShop does this to keep the file sizes small and so all images have a predictable file extension that can be used in friendly URLs.In some cases, like with the shop's logo, it is possible to upload a PNG file using FTP so that it doesn't get converted, then edit header.tpl to change the file extension. Doing the same for product images would be much more difficult.
