Text beneath attribute products in slider

I've spent ages trying to figure out how to do this, but I'm just a baby beginner.

Is there any way to show a small piece of text (such as the attribute name) beneath each attribute product's image displayed in the product slider. I've been hacking away forever in product.tpl without any success.

If it's possible, would appreciate the code that is required.

I've attached an image if this helps. In this example, beneath each of the 3 stamps showing in the slider.
