Hi Teh, good idea but you can also simply use the photoshop to change the colors of the file gif found in the folder of "jsized.snow", use "hue/saturation" in photoshop and change it what you want depending on the color of your theme. resaved it and re-upload it on the same folder. Like me i change it to clear blue. This is just a tip!

Cool module but seriously slows down the site, is there a way to have the snow just fall in the header area, I have full width banner with links, search and log in under.

Indeed. As tdr170 said. Is it possible to have snow falling only in header area? :?

Hi Safa

discovered this module today cause a friend asked for some snow in his shop

so did install it and have tested in 1.4.9.0 - 1.5.1 and 1.5.2

works like a charm

many thanks for sharing this great module,,

@ tdr170

i have no problems that it slows down the shops,,,,

perhaps you can change in snoweffect.tpl

the next line :

createSnow('{$content_dir}modules/snoweffect/jsized.snow/', 60);

bring it back to 40 ,, you got less snow but perhaps it helps

Well was worth a shot however changing the number does not seam to change anything.

This is the line from my tpl file and it states 200 not 60 as in your post.

createSnow('{$content_dir}modules/snoweffect/jsized.snow/', 200);

hi tdr70 and maconl,

createSnow('{$content_dir}modules/snoweffect/jsized.snow/', 200);

After reading this I thought I would try it again, but once the snow gets half way down the page it starts to jitter and everything slows way down.

I went all the way down to 10 with no noticeable difference.

Wish I could use it would be great for Xmas.

hi

sorry my mistake about the line in the tpl file

i had already changed that line

strange the snow goes til the bottom here ,,

tested in several themes ,,

perhaps you can play a little around with

jsized.snow.min you can find this one , in the folder jsized.snow

open and edit it with notepad++

i only added some more snow pictures to it

didn't try anything else yet

but perhaps one of the settings iin this file does help

Go to the directory of module, you will find : /www/modules/snoweffect/snoweffect

transfert all filles from the last snoweffect subcategory into the first one. So you can see /www/modules/snoweffect/jsized.snow and other files. Then go to BO refresh, and you will find it ;)

Thanks for this module. Works great on prestashop 1.4.7

Anyone know if there is any way to do so the users on my site can turn the snow off? I would like to have a function on the site so the users can turn it off. I like snow on the site, but i think that not all of my users do.

Thanks for the module. It is really nice. I only wanted it on my start page, so, I added this lines to the beginning of the hookHeader function:

if('index' != $this->context->controller->php_self)
         return false;

Best regards

Josef

open snoweffect.tpl file and edit like this.

{if $page_name == 'index' }

<script type="text/javascript" src="{$content_dir}modules/snoweffect/jsized.snow/jsized.snow.min.js"></script>

<script>

createSnow('{$content_dir}modules/snoweffect/jsized.snow/', 200);

</script>

{/if}

Dear safa,

Actually, as I said before, I added the two lines of code (the ones I wrote) to the hookHeader function and it also works like that. I think it is much more elegant to edit the php file rather than the template. You should try to separate logic from presentation.

I want to say that if may be better to change the javascript for one less CPU time consuming. I found one, which you could use instead and litte CPU consume:

Javascript with only text snow flakes. You can customize its size, color, speed, and other things:

http://rainbow.arch.scriptmania.com/scripts/bg/snow_fall_1.html

There is another one, but I have to look for it first.

The problem with your script is that with older core 2 pcs, the cpu consume will get up to 80%.

Best regards

Josef

Many thanks.

Works fine with PS 1.6.0.6...But it's needed to unzip your file and create a new one to install this module, because there is an unwanted subfolder : snoweffect

Doesn't work on PS 1.4.4.0.  :(

Hi

how did you install this module ?

did you

1) unzip it

2) open ftp programm and look for the folder there you see Snoweffect ->( snoweffect - Files included)

3) upload the second snoweffect folder (with the files) with an ftp programm into your folder modules

4) in backoffice go to your modules and look for the snoweffect and install it

5 ) have fun with some snow on your site  :)

this module must work also in version 1.4.4.0 without any problems

@safa

Hello,

Thank you very much for this nice module.

I see there is a little trouble using 'Quick view'. The opened window and the mouse cursor are shaking !

I use PS 1.6.0.6

Do you have an idea.

Thank you

Hi, i've managed to install and run the module on 1.6.0.9, but if i replace the images with edited ones e.g. Hearts nothing happens, still snowflakes. Tried to remove the original images completely and tried to save over the originals and re-upload them. I have also tried to turn off caching and media servers off but still no effect. How are the images cached?
