Themes and compatibility

Hello all

 

I have been running Prestashop for several years and always been using the default template that comes with the installation.

However when I now upgraded to 1.7.3 I decided to go for a new template instead of the default one. I found a template I liked and installed it. 
What I then discovered was that not all of my add-ons are working on that templates front office. Even if I have downloaded the updated add-on for 1.7.3  
And new one I am buying is also not always working. Seems that the add-on is not compatible with my template or vica verse,

Can you give me any advice when choosing a template or at least some thoughts about this ?
