[Solved] Install a EV SSL Certificate

Hey all,

I am in the finishing stage of building my site and almost ready for launch. One of the topics I still need to do is security. For security I am planning to purchase a so-called SSL Certificates: True BusinessID with Extended Validation (EV) from Geotrust. Why Geotrust? Because according to my own research a Geotrust certificate works with prestashop, and it seems that is not the case with all the SSL providers out there (will correct it if I am wrong). Since i am learning as I go along and this is all pretty new to me I have a few questions before I want to invest my money in SSL and make sure it will work with my website configuration.

The case:
I am currently hosting my page from http://www.domain.com/site/en/p'>http://www.domain.com/site/en/p , I redirected http://www.domain.com/ so it will automatically forward to http://www.domain.com/site/en/p'>http://www.domain.com/site/en/p .
I did this for a few reasons.
- 1. I was testing multiple store platforms.
- 2. I also host chat support and forum on my domain.
- 3. Seemed smarter to host on a lower map level for future Prestashop updates.

Question 1.
Will a BusinessID with Extended Validation (EV) SSL work for http://www.domain.com/ AND all the lower map levels or do I need to buy a wildcard SSL?
No, I dont.

Questions 2.
Does it affect my certificate if I decide to move my future Prestashop 1.4 file to /site in the future?
Answer:
No, it doesnt.

I am sure that during my process of setting up this SSL certificate I will have some more question. But I think that with the community help I can do this myself. I hope this topic eventually can become a help to others that are planning to purchase SSL. I will update/edit this first post during my process of purchasing and configuring my SSL. Feel free to reply!

Edit: SSl is working.

Hi,

I am now installing an SSL certificate as well. However I keep getting this message when I want to test order something in the webshop:

The requested URL /order.php was not found on this server

Do you know how I can solve this?

I think it has something to do with the .htaccess file...but I'm not sure what it is.

Could you help me out?

And yes >> I bought a decent ssl certificate and I have an dedicated IP address...

Hi there, wondered how you were getting on with this?

I have prestashop installed in a sub directory and I am having some SSL problems.

I already have a non presta website at www.canineconcepts.co.uk and have a test presta website at www.canineconcepts.co.uk/prestashop1-4.

My Geotrust SSL is fine with my existing (non presta) website, but cannot get it to work with the new prestashop website.

Any thoughts?
