Date filter for shop_orders

I'm trying to extract a sum of the current dates shop_orders total value.

But the dates in shop_orders are wierd to me, how would you filter them so you for instance only get the orders for the current date or the current week ?

I wanted to use php date function, have it find todays date and just compare it to the dates in the table, but it has a clock aswell, so I need it to ignore half the field ?

You can download a PDF file with all the orders between specified dates on the Orders > Invoices tab.
