Recompile templates if the files have been updated

Recommended Posts

In production what is the difference between these two in performance settings:

  • Never recompile template files. The normal behavior: HTML pages are compiled and cached, then displayed as-is, even if the theme has changed in the meantime.
  • Recompile templates if the files have been updated. PrestaShop is able to see when a theme file has changed.

"PrestaShop is able to see when a theme file has changed."

What does this actually mean, is it if I update a module or fix a bug in a module, change images, enable functions from a module.

Or is it simply meaning if I do some theme editing, adding new theme features?

Let's say I have "Never recompile template files" on my live server, but then I change something, like add a feature from a module, will I need to manually delete something?

I read "The downside is that you have to manually delete the compilation files if you then make changes to your templates", if I have "Never recompile template files". And what is manually delete mean, is it just clear cache?

Will "Never recompile template files" make my site load faster?
