It sounds similar to the problems another user was having here: http://www.prestashop.com/forum/index.php/topic,504.0.html So it could be a PHP version problem related to your server. PrestaShop requires PHP 5 or higher to run. Be sure to check this post to see if your hosting service is in the list: http://www.prestashop.com/forum/index.php/topic,714.0.html If it is, follow the provided instructions.
