When you buy a module on the prestashop store is it riquired to work with all other third party modules?

We recently bought a prestashop module and when we installed it, it did not work. We used google to see that it was giving out some errors (see attached image). However we contacted the developer an he stated that we had to duplicate the error in his demo in order for him to provide us with tech support. This was his excat response;

 

Dear Sir / Madam,

Our modules, like everyone else's, are only guaranteed to work « as is » on a standard installation of PrestaShop without overrides or third-party modules, as it is obviously impossible for anyone to anticipate the endless functional customization possibilities the override mechanisms open up.

We therefore invite you to pass this message on to your developer / webmaster / web agency / technical contact so they can take appropriate action to resolve the conflict without risking breaking something, as only they have intimate knowledge of what they have done.

They can however get in touch with us directly from the Addons website > contact the developper link from our module product sheet, if they need to ask us any questions.

Correct me if i am wrong but doesnt his reponse imply that I can only have his module installed and no one elses? And if so doesn't that take away the purpose of having modules in the first place?

Hi

First to say his replay is clear and correct and most of the module sellers would say the same.

And in that part he is right.

But that does not mean you have to use just one module.  If module is written to follow PrestaShop guidelines

and have passed validation like all modules on Addons store it should work well with other modules. At least in

cases where two modules do not use same resource/override, then conflicts are expected.

 

You did not mention but have you give them  your login and FTP details and did they check your shop ? Could be something 

went wrong with installation ?  Did they find conflict in question?

argue with state that theirs demo is on version 1.6.1.4 and you have 1.6.1.18 if I see correctly. Still it is question if they did access your store.

 

Other thing I noticed you have installed another homecategories module. Was that installed before or after other module.

Hi Razor,

Thank you for your replay, yes indeed we did provide the access information to our ftp server and Backoffice, also we did install another tab module. because they do different things you see the one we currently have is showing images from all categories along with their subcategories and gives the user a global over view of our products.

the module from this particular seller according to him would let us create custom tabs that we plan on using to show off products for specific models of trucks that we know are very popular, so that customers that own them don’t have to search thru all of the store to find each item.

Example:

Module  1

Display all car/truck parts

Module 2

Display tab with F150 pars

But right now only one module is showing up even doe both are installed.

Does the module work in a clean installation?

PD: From what I see in the capture you are Hispanic )

PD 2: When any "customer" purchased any module or template in the add-ons store and there has been some problem, the access data of a duplicate of the store has been sent to the developer and  solved the problem.

PD 3: Developers in addons offer 3 months of after-sales support for module problems.

Yes in a clean install both modules apear. but in my project only one does.

That error says that the display template (the TPL file) has not been found
