Add custom field to product info form

I'm new to Prestashop and creating modules. So far my searchng has not turned up an answer to my question.

I'm wanting to create a module that requires adding a data field to the product info form. This is a admin-only field, not meant for public view. (it's not an attribute or anything like that)

Is there any way to add a field without editing core code?

No, you can't add a field to the product editor without modifying core code. There are no hooks in admin/tabs/AdminProducts.php for modules to do this.
