Delete old product images and repertory

Hello,

I no longer use some images of my products so I deleted them under filezilla. Should the corresponding directories also be deleted? For example, if I deleted the image 1255, can I delete the directory 1/2/5/5 which is under img / p?

And when I look on google, I see Index of /img/p/1/2/5/5/. How I must to do if I don't want that  the "index of" directories will visible under google?
