Why is my VAT incorrect? VAT is NOT calculating correctly

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am in the process of creating a new store with PrestaShop and I am getting extremely frustrated with the shopping cart system; it does not calculate VAT correctly.

I have set-up a product (£18.00 VAT incl.) and a Shipping Carrier (£5 no VAT) which totals £23. The product has a VAT Rule of 20% as it's a UK based product. 20% of 18 is £3.60. Why is my Prestashop working this out at £3?

Simple mathematics?

15 £ x 0.20 = 3£

So, your VAT settings might be wrong - which would be a matter of vat rule settings.

Or you net price VAT excluded - which would be a matter of products.

Or you changed the VAT rules, after the order has been placed.

If I have the same product with a quantity of 4 and shipping at £5 with no VAT, the VAT works out at £12 which is not correct...

I work it out as £14.40.

What's going on?

Your screen shots show one with unit price 15 and one with 18.

But what we see is only the end result. We don't see your VAT rules nor do we see how the product was set up.

Maybe post this screenshots as well.

Note that products need the correct VAT rule to be set.
