Better looking search bar, the "Eager: Search Bar"

Recommended Posts

I present a better-looking alternative to the default search bar module. "Eager: Search bar". This module uses a third party autocomplete library that is just 4.4 kb minified and gzipped. The main features are:

  • Templates selection
  • Easily add new templates (just create a new .tpl)
  • Small third party autocomplete 4.4kb minified and gzipped

In this version 1.0.1:

  • Added Hogan.js as a local library (special thanks to MayretModa!)

In this version 1.0.0:

  • Added configuration screen
  • Added 3 new templates

In this version 0.9.5:

  • Fixed template issue in IE

In this version 0.9.0:

  • Template based search results
  • Default template includes product image and price

TODO list:

  • Add CMS search
  • Add Manufacturer search

Compatibility:
PS >= 1.7.1.0

Installation:

  • Download zip
  • Unzip in modules folder
  • Click install on the modules page.

Hi Soyons Zen,

Thanks for taking the time to download and test it this module. I forgot to add that it was only tested on PrestaShop version 1.7.1.0.

I will add the version information to the initial post information.

Thanks again!

Hello

I have a store with https and there is a problem.
The code runs on a URL with http address:

a0f5g1.jpg

The correct thing would be to save the code locally. We create the file "hogan-3.0.1.js" and save it in the folder "js":

2ldkevr.jpg

Copy the contents of the URL into the file "hogan-3.0.1.js":

1zltcie.jpg

Finally, we modified the file "eager_searchbar.php". We will approx line 126 and we introduce the following:

s4teok.jpg

Upload the modified file.

By the way, great module.

Hey MayretModa,

Thanks for the issue report! I had forgotten to add Hogan.js to the local library. I have just updated the module (version 1.0.1) according to your suggestions.

Greetings,

Dutch

Thank you for developing this nice searchbar. I tried it with prestashop-version 1.7.1.2. The search works fine, but it doesn't display the results in a preview list. Has anyone else tried in 1.7.1.2? It's not a big difference between the 1.7.1 -versions and ohter moduls work fine. Therefore I'm not sure if the problem is the version or our template.

Hi Leonal

Try the following:

Go to the BO> Shop parameters> Search

Within the section INDEX, rebuild the complete index (depending on the products you have, it may take a while).

We wait for your reply.

modul ist off, cache is cleared, css-cache and js-caching turned off. May the Modul have some trouble with our so called "Umlaute": ä-ü-ö? Thank you very much for trying to solve the problem!

Hi DutchCoding:

Today, i installed your module on PS 1.7.2.4

1. the donwload link is not available in US, so, i had to use IP address from Colombia as my account  is from Colombia too it suddenly work.

2. the auto-complete function does not work on my site, so, it does not bring any images or prices.

nevertheless the search box works ok and returns results once the button is hit.

Do you know how to resize the search box height? i moved the search box from displyatop hook to displaynav2 but the search box height is smaller than the other modules and i don't like it that way, and, do you know how to alineate the search box to the right? i mean, to be on the same line than the menu below? i changed col-lg-4 on .tpl but it is a compelte mess without no sucess to be aligned.

class="col-lg-4 col-md-5 col-sm-12 search-widget"

PD: I tried to modify theme.css but i has not able to change height.

Mauricio F.

Hi

Just looked at php file - seems only PS 1.7.1.0 is compatible, is that correct?

Edward

Hey

NO.

Do these steps:

Extract the files,

Put files in a folder and rename it to "eager_searchbar" .

Zip the renamed folder.

remember one important thing:

Your product must have at least one image to show on suggestions list.

Thanks for great module.

Is it possible to have autocomplete  for searchbars in other templates?

It only show autocomplete if It hooked in header template.

Both this module and searchbar module don't show suggestions if they hooked in anyplace other than header template.

Why?

Anybody know the answer?

No luck. Tried your suggestion, tried both win10 and 7zip.

Baffling really. Different PCs and server versions.

I will give up but do not want to put anyone else off what looks a great module.
