Edit product custom fields during checkout

I have added a custom text field in products and I can edit its value before adding it to the cart.

 

Is there a way to update values for this custom field in the checkout page, without having to go back to the product page?

 

Another solution I thought is having a popup window for each product in the checkout page and updating the product there. Is there something like that?

 

Perhaps there is a solution for having cart_product custom fields? I have found modules for cart custom fields but not for cart_product custom fields.
