Can't update translation or template file

I'm using a premium theme. I know I could ask him, but I've been bugging him on other stuff already and I want to make sure this isn't a general mistake I'm making and not a theme problem.

 

I'm trying to change the text of "My merchandise returns" and "My credit slips" links in the My Account block in the footer. I tried changing it in the translation files, and I went back and confirmed that my changes stuck.

 

I also tried changing it in

/themes/mytheme/modules/blockmyaccount/blockmyaccount.tpl

with no effect.

 

Suggestions?
